Flexural Behavior of a Tapered Hyperbolic Radiator

Document Thumbnail

The hyperboloid of revolution, when constructed by helical winding, will have a linear thickness taper outward along its generators. This permits the fabrication of a loudspeaker diaphragm incorporating voice coil and rim suspension in one piece. Utilizating a geometric approach, we consider structural and elastic factors as they affect mode shapes, edge problems and acoustical radiation.
