Radio archives can offer a valid support to the production environment, and even become a central resource to exploit in the challenge offered by the new Internet market, provided that an efficient and flexible archive organisation be devised and adopted. In this paper, the role of broadcast archives in the present situation and in the new Internet scenario will be discussed. Then, the archive organisation developed by RAI with the -Audioteca- project will be outlined and commented.
