In this paper sound field properties are discussed that are typical for small rooms rather than large. A first distinction between both types of rooms may be derived from the applicability of geometrical acoustics. Probably more relevant is the distinction by Schroeder's formula, which separates the range of large rooms-high frequencies from that of small rooms-low frequencies. In both these ranges, the densities of eigenfrequencies lead to different characteristics of both the frequency response and sound decay.
