In this paper, we describe the principles and advantages of a new electromagnetic loudspeaker system. The new electromagnetic driving configuration, which has unique dual gaps and dual coils, will contribute to better linearity of the loudspeaker performance, yet will provide better flexibility to the selection of magnetic materials for an electrokinetic actuator. Most particularly, the distortion in the reproduced sound is well improved and the weight of the loudspeaker is ultralight. These advantages have been achieved through the flexibility of the magnetic material selection which closely relates to the proposed dual-coil and dual-gap configuration.
