The paper presents a model for an inherent distortion caused by flow resistance modulation in small transducers. The distortion mechanisms analysed here include the modulation of the transducer's moving mass, its compliance, and the viscous damping. A numerical model is presented for different forms of non-linearity, and examples indicating the significance of the non-linear effects are computed.
