Digital Mixing Systems for Broadcasting Studios and Theatres

Document Thumbnail

This paper describes the fully-digital mixing systems to be used in on-air studios of broadcasting stations and opera or drama theatres. Conventionally, the analog signal processing mixing systems were popular at the live sites of on-air studios or theatres because of channel size, quick operating response, system reliability, etc. Today, however, moves of broadcasting stations are toward full digitalization of their studios for future digital broadcast, and many theatres are attempting to upgrade their play effects. These factors combine to create needs to digitize control systems as well as signal processing. We will explain the fully-digital mixing systems for live applications from the viewpoints of reliability, human interface and automation software.
