The DMMS electronic archiving system will offer a storage management solution for all those who have to deal with Terabytes of data, like in the field of audio and video production. This electronic archive system will not only be capable of storing audio data but all other kinds of media content such as video, images and graphics. The main benefits this system can offer to record companies, CD manufacturers and broadcasting companies are high speed access and long-term preservation of media content. Exchanging content online will reduce the overall production time and provide benefits to all companies involved in this value-added chain. Accepted standards for data formats and exchange procedures are necessary to achieve this goal.
