Pleasantness and Unpleasantness of Speech

Document Thumbnail

Pleasantness, naturalness, and satisfaction are common criteria of overall sound quality. Judgments are typically made on categorical scales assumed to be equal-interval scales. The authors present results of speech quality assessments made along four sound quality scales to test the validity of the interval scale assumption. The experiment for pleasantness and unpleasantness of sound scales was repeated twice to determine reliability of ratings.
