Almost every day we encounter new terminology heralding the arrival of the wired universe. The audio industry, being somewhat more presentation oriented than many other disciplines involved in this multi-industry process, is in the final stages of developing a unique and progessive network standard. This standard can serve as a guide to and model for managing standard initiatives in other presentation-focused fields. However, we must be mindful of wider more entrenched network standards so that our efforts accelerate rather than hinder the realization of the fully connected work - a work which we hope would be on-line, interactive, meaningful, and ultimately a useful place.
