All electrical equipments containing semiconductor devices are potentially capable of being adversely affected by electromagnetic disturbances present in the environment in which the equipment operates. If the equipment has insufficient immunity to the disturbances an interaction will occur where interference or equipment malfunction will be observed, generally resulting in a loss of performance. The provision of adequate immunity is thus strongly related to the achievement of reliable operation in the field.
