One of the major causes of radiation from electronic equipment is radiation from the cables. While the housing of the equipment can be sealed using basic shielding techniques and EMI gaskets, cables can prove more difficult. In some cases the housing of the unit consists of a large metal shell and by using a complete metal boot, shielded cables can be very effective. However, in most cases, either because of the design of the box or extensive use of plastic cabinetry or connectors, such shielding is difficult, expensive or impossible.
