MADI-Based Fibre Optic Studio Routing

Document Thumbnail

Some years ago, the BBC proposed a signal distribution system which uses high speed optical fibers to carry a large number of signals to destinations where the required channels are selected. After a successful field trial which proved the concepts, work has concentrated on making economic hardware using the Multichannel Audio Digital Interface (MADI) standard. This paper describes these further developments and details a system using newly developed units which will shortly be installed at the BBC Maida Vale studio complex.
