The Future of Multimedia Networking: A User's Perspective (1)

Document Thumbnail

I have been gazing at a crystal ball: what I see is both exciting and slightly shocking. The journalist and producer will be radically changed by the spread of digital production. Networking will make our job easier, while imposing greater disciplines. It will allow de-centralized production and transmission on demand. It will also break the stranglehold which -professional- broadcasters have held up until now over serious speech programming. The technology which brought -sampling- to a generation of music-conscious teenagers will soon be available to all those who are interested in the power of the spoken word.
