This paper reviews the development of newer types of auditorium acoustics parameters that go beyond the conventional reverberation time. It is shown that research has led to a consensus that a small number of quantities explain subjective assessments of auditorium acoustics quality. Procedures exist to measure these newer quantities, and systematic measurements in halls lead to an improved understanding of the factors influencing subjectively important auditorium acoustics measures.
