The digital audio capabilities of D-2 videotape recorders have produced a demand for high quality audio transfer and monitoring in video post production suites. The DREAM system uses a Macintosh IIfx computer and modular components to satisfy these requirements in a user-friendly, cost-effective manner. It can digitally mix materials from any combination of AES/EBU sources (avoiding generation losses), and control all parameters with exact recall under MIDI automation, thus providing finished audio at the completion of the post process. Because the DREAM system is modular, it can be updated with new hardware and software as it becomes available.
