Standardization of Digital Audio File Exchange-A Progress Report

Document Thumbnail

At the Spring 1990 convention of the National Association of Broadcasters, a meeting was held under the auspices of SMPTE to measure the interest of digital audio workstation vendors and users in the creation of a standard means of file interchange. A high level of interest was observed and it was discovered that the AES had at one time organized a working group with similar goals. The AES group was reconstituted to include additional interested parties and has been meeting since July 1990. Much has been accomplished since that time, and in this paper I wish to report on the progress of the AES Subgroup on Operational Requirements for Professional Disk Recording.
