This paper discusses the need for an understanding of the various error creating mechanisms and digital audio problems which can arise when an interface system is implemented. A description of some of the performance parameters which interface analysis instrumentation might be expected to assess, is given. Such equipments would be used to facilitate the installation and maintenance of complex systems and to provide wide ranging test signals and analysis which would also be required for use in acceptance tests of new equipments and in equipment maintenance.
