AES Signals Within a Broadcast Centre

Document Thumbnail

Thames TV together with Channel 4 and a number of other major UK TV companies, have recently commenced stereo TV transmissions using digitally encoded Nicam 728 stereo sound. It is the intention that all ITV contractors provide a full Nicam TV service next year. Over the last few years Thames TV have been re-equipping technical areas with stereo capability built in. The advent of stereo Nicam transmissions coinciding with the replacement programme for our main transmission and presentation area has meant that we have been able to adopt state-of-the-art digital technology within the new area. A totally digital routing system and presentation centre based upon the AES digital format is now in the final stages of commissioning.
