Programme Labelling in the User Channel

Document Thumbnail

Broadcasters and manufacturers have expressed the need to transmit various data accompanying audio programmes, data known as Labels. The AES/EBU digital audio interface offers 48 kbit/s for the transmission of ancillary information on User Data Channel. To make this capacity available to Labels, a packet system is proposed. This packet system enables multiplexing of various services simultaneously, taking into account the wide variety of messages. Special attention has been paid to time critical messages and to sampling frequency conversions. A number of immediate applications is listed.
