The AES/EBU interface standard provides a golden opportunity to standardize the interconnections of digital audio equipment. Digital audio equipment will only gain full acceptance in the audio world if, by going digital, one can fully realize the benefits of so doing. Above all, going digital needs to provide both cost and performance benefits for the user. The AES/EBU interface provides the means by which digital audio equipment from a variety of sources can be interconnected. As with any specification, many different interpretations are likely with possibly different levels of performance.
