The Role of Quality Systems Management, BS 5750

Document Thumbnail

The BS 5750 series are the national standards which promulgate, for use by UK suppliers and purchasers, the ISO 9000 series of international standards for quality systems. They tell suppliers and manufacturers what is required of a quality orientated system. They do not set out extra-special requirements which only a very few firms can, or need, comply with, but are practical standards for quality systems which can be used by all UK industry. The principles of BS 5750 are applicable whether you employ two people or 10,000. They identify the basic disciplines and specify the procedures and criteria to ensure that products and services meet the customer's requirements. The benefits of applying BS 5750 are real; it will save you money - because your procedures will be more soundly based and more efficient; to ensure satisfied customers - because you will have built quality at every stage: it will reduce wastage and time consuming re-work of designs and procedures.
