This paper describes a high-performance miniature subwoofer component which evolved by reversing the traditional order of design method, beginning with large-array performance requirements and ending with transducer Thiele-Small parameters. Typical subwoofers applications will be discussed and a simplified method of determining system performance requirements presented.
