Design and Practical Considerations for a Touring Festival System Used in Africa

Document Thumbnail

Sound reinforcement system design concepts and operating techniques that are used in developed nations such as the United States have become fairly sophisticated within the past decade. As the newly-developing [Third World] countries improve their economic status, and as large public assemblies for purposes of entertainment become more common in these areas, a need for well-designed portable sound systems is evident. Currently, such systems are usually shipped in for use of specific projects and are drawn from sound reinforcement rental firms in North America or Western Europe.: This presentation will discuss such a specific project, and will focus on the overall system design and practical considerations of using this system under field conditions. My purpose in this discussion is to document the technology currently in use, and hopefully to improve the chances of logistical success for such projects in the future.
