Over the past ten years a number of innovations have occurred in television receivers. Perhaps the most important, as perceived by the customer, is the introduction of Teletext. However, one has to go back even further, to the introduction of colour television, in order to witness a dramatic change in the transmission standards. With the introduction of NICAM transmissions at last, the TV sound can -catch up with- the picture developments in future television receivers.
