Discrete digital measuring instruments such as sweep generators, frequency counters, level meters, tracking filters etc., employed heretofore, are incorporated into a computer controlled programmable audio measuring instrument, truly befitting the digital audio age. The new version of this instrument is capable of performing fully automatic 2-channel testing of stereo-headphones, loudspeakers, microphones, and telephone transducer units etc., by comparing the performance data against user-programmed tolerance curves, stored in EE-PROM cartridges. A test cycle of only 3 seconds is required for testing frequency response, sensitivity, and distortion simultaneously. Addition of impedance and polarity tests requires a few more seconds.
