The potential of IP networks to give high quality, low-latency media transport has come of age in recent years. In this paper we will examine the benefits and challenges presented to an integrator of these enabling technologies. We will also compare Open Standards networks with Standards-Based proprietary networks. Furthermore the near future of convergence and implementation of networks using the open AVB suite of protocols will be discussed.
