The use of computational operations instead of listening tests is common practice in monaural audio evaluation. However, the use of advanced binaural auditory models for the spatial sound evaluation remains a challenge. This article presents an interaural cross-correlation-based binaural auditory model that estimates both the direction(s) of the sound event(s) and the specific loudness spectra from a binaural recording. An experimental verification is used to evaluate the performance of the model in anechoic conditions and the model is applied in an analysis of the stereo-image width from binaural recordings made in non-anechoic conditions.
