Novel Sinusoidal Amplitude Coding Method for Paramtric Audio Codec

Document Thumbnail

In this paper, new method for sinusoidal amplitude coding is presented. In MPEG-4 SSC (SinuSoidal Coding, Parametric coding for high quality audio), audio signal is decomposed into transients, sinusoids and noise component. Sinusoid component is decomposed further into frequency, amplitude and the phase. Each sinusoid of certain frame is linked to that of previous frame exploiting similarity of frequency, amplitude and phase to improve coding efficiency. Continuations are parts of a track with predecessor and successor. Births are parts of a track with successor alone. Continuations and births are quantized for bit-stream format and coded by Huffman entropy coding method. Applying this method to sinusoidal amplitude for births, bit-rate is reduced by 15.89% compared with MPEG-4 SSC.
