This paper proposes the advanced Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(T-DMB) system for multi-channel audio services. The multi-channel audio signal on T-DMB is divided into stereo audio signal and additional multi-channel side information. Each stereo audio signal and multi-channel side information is conveyed through each elementary streams(ES), respectively. To control two elementary streams, two object descriptor streams(OD stream) are exploited, each of which transmits OD commands, including ObjectDescriptorUpdate and ES_DescriptorUpdate, related to stereo audio signal and additional multi-channel side information, respectively. The proposed system can convey multi-channel side information with guaranteeing backward compatibility for existing legacy T-DMB terminals, and moreover, makes it possible to provide various service scenarios with outstanding extensibility.
