Redifining the Criteria for Sound Reinforcement Loudspeakers

Document Thumbnail

The sound reinforcement loudspeaker is the one most prone to criticism because the listener can readily compare the original sound with that from the speaker. Traditional loudspeakers make such comparisons odious, but this need not be so. Using psycho-acoustic criteria, the specification for a loudspeaker can be drawn up that will satisfy the requirements of human hearing. Such a specification cannot be met with traditional materials and techniques, but requires engineering low power consumption and compact size.
