FSQ is for 'Fast Sound Quality': New Techniques for Assessment of Sound Quality of a Car Audio System

Document Thumbnail

The new method for subjective-statistical expertise of sound quality, which is called Fast Sound Quality (FSQ), is intended for judging the sound quality in car audio competitions. This method provides more reliable scores within shorter time, as compared to the conventional IASCA technique. The test software is compiled on a CD with a total time of reproduction less than 15 min. The new FSQ method was successfully implemented at 12 car audio competitions in Russia in 2001. The FSQ method can also be used for the assessment of Hi Fi and High End systems. The method was first presented at the session of the Russian (Moscow) section of the AES and published in the Avtozvuk journal (the leading Russian car audio journal) and in the Metrology and Measuring Techniques in Communication journal. The FSQ method was developed by the Acoustics Center of the Broadcasting and Electroacoustics department of the Moscow Technical University of Communication and Informatics.
