Consumer audio products are poorly integrated by the standards of a modem PC. Global Silicon, a three year old company, has designed a chipset to rationalise these products. This paper describes some of the steps involved in the set-up of the company the design process and aspects of the chips design. The relevance of the chips to CD MP3 playback is discussed.
