A single phased array microphone with high directivity covers a forward angle of 180 degrees subdivided in seven sectors. The output signals can be mixed to any number of channels from one to seven. For surround recording a mix-down to "L-C-R " channels is proposed.. Two backward "surround" signals are picked up with omni's from the same location. For this small A-B system, low frequency separation is corrected with "Diffuse Field Adapters" (Difa)
