A new stereo width control system is proposed. Our approach is to create a virtual soundfield in the recording side, not phantom sources in the reproduction side. The key process in the proposed system is signal-dependent spectral modification under the framework of analysis/modification/synthesis. Listening tests indicate it offers good performance.
