The paper describes the development of the co-operative work done by the National Library of Norway and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation to digitise and create on-line access to the 50 000 hours of recordings kept by the radio archive. This includes the technical aspects of the digitisation, choice of suitable sound formats as well of the implementation of the existing metadata in the creation of web interfaces for easy access by the radio journalists, and a policy for safeguarding the contents for future generations in a HSM Mass Storage System. A brief encounter of the on-line deposit of current radio transmission is included.
